UPSC Combined Medical Services Examination 2026 – Apply Online for 1358 Posts
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the UPSC Combined Medical Services (CMS) Examination 2026 for recruiting qualified medical professionals in various government health departments. Through this recruitment drive, eligible MBBS graduates can apply for posts such as Medical Officer in Central Health Service, Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in Railways, and General Duty Medical Officer positions in NDMC and MCD. Educational Qualification
- Candidates must have passed the written and practical parts of the final MBBS examination from a recognized university.
- Applicants who have appeared or are going to appear in the final MBBS examination can also apply provisionally.
- Those who have not yet completed the compulsory rotating internship may appear in the exam but appointment will be granted only after completing the internship.
- Candidates must also meet the physical and medical standards prescribed for the CMS Examination.
Age Limit
- Maximum Age: 32 Years as on 01 August 2026
- For Medical Officers (CHS General Duty): Up to 35 Years
- Age Relaxation:
- SC / ST – 5 Years
- OBC – 3 Years
- Ex-Servicemen – 5 Years
- Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) – 10 Years
- Other relaxations as per Government of India rules
Application Fee
- General / OBC / EWS: Rs. 200/-
- SC / ST / Female / PwBD Candidates: Exempted from fee
- Payment Mode: Online via Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, RuPay Card, or UPI
Selection Process
- Written Examination – 500 Marks
- Paper I: General Medicine & Paediatrics – 250 Marks
- Paper II: Surgery, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Preventive & Social Medicine – 250 Marks
- Objective type questions with negative marking of 1/3rd mark for incorrect answers
- Personality Test / Interview – 100 Marks
- Total Marks: 600
Salary / Pay Scale
- Pay Matrix Level-10: Rs. 56,100 – Rs. 1,77,500 per month
- Eligible candidates will also receive Non-Practising Allowance (NPA) and other admissible allowances.
- Appointments are governed under the National Pension System (NPS) as per government rules.
