About the Recruitment
The Indian Air Force has announced the IAF Agniveervayu (Sports) Recruitment 2026 for Intake 02/2026 under the Agnipath Scheme. This recruitment drive invites applications from outstanding unmarried Indian male sportspersons who have achieved recognition at national or international sporting events. Selected candidates will serve as Agniveervayu (Sports) personnel for a four-year engagement period as per the provisions of the Air Force Act, 1950.
Eligible candidates who have completed 10+2, a Diploma, or a Vocational qualification and possess notable sports achievements can submit their applications online through the official portal. The online registration window will be open from 23 March 2026 to 29 March 2026, and the recruitment trials will take place in New Delhi in April 2026.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- 10+2 / Intermediate with Mathematics, Physics and English with minimum 50% aggregate and 50% in English, OR
- Three-year Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automobile, Computer Science, Instrumentation Technology or IT) with at least 50% aggregate and 50% in English, OR
- Two-year Vocational Course with Physics and Mathematics and minimum 50% aggregate including 50% in English.
- For non-science stream candidates: 10+2 in any stream or a two-year vocational course with at least 50% marks and 50% in English.
Sports Achievements
- Representation of India in Junior or Senior International competitions recognized by IOC or IOA, OR
- Minimum 5th position in Junior Nationals, Senior Nationals, All India Inter-University, or Khelo India National competitions, OR
- Representation of a State or Union Territory in National / All India Inter-University / Khelo India competitions in team events.
- Special eligibility conditions apply for Cricket, Shooting, and Chess based on recognized rankings or achievements.
Physical Standards
- Minimum Height: 152 cm
- Chest: Minimum 77 cm with at least 5 cm expansion
- Physical Fitness Test: 1.6 km run within 7 minutes, followed by 10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups, and 20 squats within the specified time.
Age Limit
- Candidates must be born between 02 July 2005 and 02 January 2009 (both dates inclusive).
- The maximum age at the time of enrolment should not exceed 21 years.
- Only unmarried male candidates are eligible to apply and they must remain unmarried during the four-year service period.

- Registration Fee: ₹100 plus applicable taxes.
- The fee must be paid online through Debit Card, Credit Card, or Internet Banking during the application process.

Salary and Benefits
The Agniveervayu (Sports) role provides a progressive monthly package during the four-year service period under the Agnipath Scheme.

After completion of the four-year tenure, candidates will receive a Seva Nidhi package of approximately ₹10.04 lakh. Additional benefits include risk and hardship allowance, ration, accommodation, travel allowances, medical facilities, clothing, and other benefits as per Indian Air Force rules.
